An educationalist for the last 20 years has accumulated experience from a range of education related assignments in the private and public sector.  She started as a lecturer in the Kenya Polytechnic in mathematics and computer studies.  She later joined the private sector where she was a consultant in office automation projects that ranged from assessing training needs of corporate clients, developing relevant training materials, delivering the training and offering post training support.  As a Microsoft Certified Systems Engineer, she was involved in the design and implementation of various network solutions in the private and public sector.  Esther’s accumulated experience was instrumental in the deployment of ICT solutions in more than 300 schools and the capacity building of more than 5,000 educators in various capacities.

She has been involved in the design and evaluation of Education Technology projects in Kenya, Tanzania, Namibia, Ghana, Uganda, Rwanda, Nigeria, and recently in the SADC region.

In the last 10 years, she has been an active practitioner in the conceptualization, actual implementation, and management of e-learning projects targeted at improving teacher education practice through the use of ICT.  Projects that Esther has actively contributed to include the contextualization of the UNESCO ICT Competency Framework in Rwanda (under GESCI), Nigeria and Tanzania (under the Worldbank TDev 21 project), in Kenya for the Technical and Vocational Education sector, and in Uganda in the China Funds-in-Trust (CFIT) Project to enhance Teacher Education through Active teaching and learning pedagogy.

Esther joined the Internet Society in 2021 as the Project Director – Training and eLearning.  She is involved in the operational details of TeL to ensure that activities are completed as targeted, objectives are achieved and that the TeL section of ISOC is contributing ISOC’s overall vision of growing and strengthening of the Internet through capacity building.

She holds a Bachelors of Education Degree from Kenyatta University, Master of Science, specializing in Educational Technology from the University of Twente in the Netherlands, and a Post Graduate Diploma in ICT Leadership from Dublin City University. She is currently the Project Director in Training & eLearning.
