African School of AI (ASAI)
The African School of AI (ASAI) is one of the key programs under Kuza STEAM Generation, designed to build capacity and skills in Artificial Intelligence (AI) among African learners, with a strong focus on women and underrepresented groups in technology. The program aims to equip participants with knowledge, technical skills, and critical perspectives needed to develop ethical, inclusive, and socially responsible AI systems.
Much of the ASAI program focuses on empowering women and marginalized communities who are often excluded from AI education and technology spaces. Through structured learning pathways, mentorship, and networking opportunities, ASAI supports participants to become AI practitioners, researchers, leaders, and policymakers in their communities.
Building local AI capacity is essential for Africa’s digital future. The ASAI program emphasizes that AI development should not only be technically advanced but also ethical, inclusive, and aligned with African contexts and social justice principles. By supporting education and innovation in AI, Kuza STEAM Generation through ASAI contributes to building a diverse and equitable technology ecosystem.
